Movie director James Cameron to celebrate 56th birthday underwater - Morning Journal Posted: 16 Aug 2010 10:13 PM PDT SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — James Cameron is going from outer space to under water. The writer and director of "Avatar" said he'll celebrate his 56th birthday yesterday deep beneath Russia's Lake Baikal. Cameron will be in a submersible about 5,200 feet from the surface of the world's oldest and deepest freshwater lake — "unless it's bad weather, in which case I'll be getting drunk with the Russian crew in the port." A longtime ocean enthusiast, Cameron has other underwater projects in the works. He says he is building a submarine in Australia that will take him 36,000 feet under water. He is also developing an upgraded 3-D underwater camera and has plans for an underwater feature film that he said he might make before taking on an "Avatar" sequel. Pat Tillman movie resonates with ASU football team - AZCentral.com Posted: 17 Aug 2010 01:27 AM PDT by Doug Haller - Aug. 16, 2010 08:25 PM As a freshman, linebacker Brandon Magee hung a photo of Pat Tillman over the bathroom door of the dormitory room he shared with Shelly Lyons. "We saw him every morning we woke up," Magee said. "He's our role model, point blank." The Sun Devils know about Tillman's football career and sacrifice. But not all of them were fully aware of what happened in the mountains of Afghanistan on April 22, 2004, the day Tillman died from friendly fire. Nor did they know much about the Tillman family's quest for finding the truth. That changed Saturday when, following their scrimmage, the Sun Devils watched a private screening of Amir Bar-Lev's documentary "The Tillman Story." "There's more to the situation than people see," Magee said. "I was surprised at how somebody can go away and fight for the United States, and (the government) can just lie to the family about what happened." Senior defensive tackle Saia Falahola said it was good for the team to watch, just because of what Tillman means to the ASU community. "Everyone was pretty locked in," Falahola said. Sophomore quarterback Brock Osweiler said the experience left him numb. "Absolutely unbelievable," he said. "In fact, as soon I came back to the stadium I went and saw Coach (Noel) Mazzone and I told him I really feel like it's something every incoming freshman football player needs to see. . . . Most people know what Pat Tillman did, but not exactly the person he was. "We run out every Saturday in the Tillman Tunnel. We touch the 'PT42' (sign) coming out, and I feel like some guys don't know why we do that. The movie definitely explained a lot of things."
