"American Idol" contestant Brooke White is following in the footsteps of Jennifer Hudson.

The 27-year-old White recently made the leap into acting. She will star in an upcoming TV movie called "Change of Plans" with no professional acting experience.

Hudson had no acting experience when she was cast in the movie "Dreamgirls." She won an Oscar for her performance.

White will play the lead role of Sally Danville, a singer/songwriter who becomes guardian of her best friend's four children after an accident. The movie also stars Phylicia Rashad and has a cameo appearance by "Idol" judge Randy Jackson.

Largest Canadian Motion Picture Exhibitor Debuts Online Movie Download Service Powered by RoxioNow - MSN Money

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 04:27 AM PST

NOVATO, Calif., Nov. 24, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sonic Solutions® SNIC today announced that RoxioNow™ platform licensee, Cineplex Entertainment ("Cineplex") (TSX: CGX.UN), has officially launched its online movie download service in Canada. The Cineplex introduction further extends the availability of RoxioNow outside the United States, and is part of Sonic's broader international expansion plans. Sonic plans to announce additional initiatives outside the U.S. over the next several months.

Available now at www.Cineplex.com, the new service allows Canadian consumers to download movies online, including new releases on the same day they are released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Sonic is working with Cineplex on a multi-phase rollout that includes making the service available from a broad range of connected devices and ensuring compatibility with studio-supported digital programs. The addition of digital movies for rent or purchase complements other entertainment offerings available at www.cineplex.com such as physical disc sales and ticketing for Cineplex theatres.

"Our RoxioNow-powered online movie download service is a logical extension of the Cineplex brand and enables us to deliver a broader range of entertainment options to our customers," said Pat Marshall, Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations at Cineplex Entertainment. "We are the first movie touch point for consumers, both online and in our theatres. Now with the addition of digital movie downloads from our Cineplex store, we are providing consumers with more choices when they experience a movie at home."

"The Cineplex launch is an important win for Sonic, marking an additional placement for the RoxioNow platform outside of the U.S., and further exemplifying the broad range of companies that can benefit from licensing our entertainment technologies and infrastructure," said David Cook, Senior VP and General Manager of RoxioNow, a division of Sonic Solutions. "We are delighted to be supporting Cineplex with the launch of their online movie download service and look forward to delivering Hollywood content to Canadian movie enthusiasts."

The RoxioNow platform delivers a broad range of premium content, including new movies and next-day TV programs, to a growing, multi-manufacturer ecosystem of home and mobile electronics. RoxioNow enables storefronts for brick and mortar retailers, cable operators, PC manufacturers, game system vendors, consumer electronics makers, and Hollywood studios' direct-to-consumer initiatives. The RoxioNow platform allows these companies to participate in the entertainment supply chain, add value to product offerings, and form ongoing relationships with customers. "Powered by RoxioNow™" stores enable consumers to instantly rent and purchase high-quality entertainment on their favorite devices and, through the RoxioNow online entertainment library, access their content at any time, on any RoxioNow-powered device.
